What is rebar?
In building construction, various tools and materials are used to strengthen the building frame against natural and sudden accidents. Before that, the builders should do sufficient research on all the tools and use them according to the application of the materials and the load of the building; Because in case of negligence, the building will suffer serious and harmful problems.
One of the tools that has been welcomed by many people in the construction industry and has many uses is rebar; Rebar, which is also known as Raber reinforcement among builders, is a long and cylindrical steel section. In the following, we would like to explain more about the rebar, corner, stud, and gold bullion so that you can fully and accurately get to know these tools.
If we want to look at the history of Milgerd; It dates back to the 19th century when it was first used in France. In the early 19th century, rebar was used because concrete alone was not enough to make strong and large structures strong and could not be made as strong as possible. Rebar was able to increase the possibility of building very large structures such as bridges, towers and dams in all countries with more reinforcement.
In general, we can consider the definition of a rebar as a rebar or reinforcement is a long and solid cylindrical steel section, often produced from medium carbon steel.
Types of rebar
Types of rebars based on appearance: The first category of rebars is classified based on their appearance and is the most important type of rebar. Rebars are divided into two categories, simple and ribbed, based on their appearance.
Ribbed rebar has grooves that make the rebar stick to concrete more; Due to this characteristic, it increases the resistance of the concrete structure against tensile forces. We can consider ribbed rebar as one of the most popular and of course the most widely used type of rebar in construction. Plain rebar does not have the characteristics of ribbed rebars, and therefore it is often used in simple connections such as connecting beams and columns.
Of course, don’t forget that we cannot definitively consider one of them appropriate and the other inappropriate; Because during the construction and production of a concrete structure, according to the type of structure, the environmental conditions and the loads imposed on the structure, the type of rebar is selected, and the simple and ribbed rebar also have other features in addition to the grooves we have explained; For example, simple rebar is more flexible and ribbed rebar has high tensile strength.
Types of rebars based on gender: The second category of rebars that we intend to introduce is based on gender and material. According to the type and material, the rebars are divided into two categories: carbon steel and alloy steel.
Carbon steel rebar is made of medium carbon steel alloy; You know very well that carbon is one of the important and main elements of steel, the presence of carbon in steel increases its mechanical properties, and the high amount of carbon in steel increases the tensile strength of steel, but it reduces the flexibility and malleability of steel and Of course, it is the cheapest type of rebar.
The next rebar is an alloy rebar that is produced from different alloys, including chromium alloys, nickel alloys, and manganese alloys, and the presence of different alloys in steel improves its mechanical properties.
Alloy rebar has a very high resistance to corrosion and wear, this type of rebar is used in structures that are exposed to moisture and chemicals. For example, it is widely used in the construction of marine and industrial structures.
Types of alloy bars include the following:
Chromed rebar
Nickel rebar
Manganese rebar
Tungsten rebar
Molybdenum rebar
Types of rebars based on production standards: The third category of rebars are produced based on standards. In Iran, rebars are made according to the national ISIRI standard; These standards examine the characteristics of rebar according to diameter, length and tensile strength.
Rebars according to ISIRI standard
-
Simple or soft rebar
-
Spiral ribbed rebar
-
Janaki ribbed rebar
-
Compound ribbed rebar

Application of rebar
We got acquainted with the definitions and concepts of steel; But now is the time to know what they are used for. Each rebar has different uses according to the type of structure and material.
Simple rebars are used in building connections, manufacturing industrial connections, automotive parts and infrastructure connections.
Ribbed rebars are used in the construction of bridges, construction of BRT and towers, strengthening the structure against earthquakes.
Stainless steel rebars are used in grids, tweeters and retainers.
Polymer fiberglass rebars are used to protect against rust, sulfates and chlorides.
High carbon steel rebars are a good option in wet weather conditions.
Buy rebar
If you want to buy rebar for the construction of structures and projects, it is better to pay attention to things such as the type of structure, weather conditions, and the load of the structure. Because as you have seen, each rebar has its own use, unique features and capabilities, and if used incorrectly, you will be forced to destroy the structure, which will result in many losses for builders and engineers.
rebar price
Naturally, before buying products, you compare their prices in different stores and factories, and then you will decide to buy. In this part of the article, we are going to describe the price of rebar momentarily:
